Results of 40th Annual National Show held in June, 2012.

Ragalon Ragdolls is dedicated to retaining the true type and temperament of the Ragdoll cat. It is for this reason that we actively prepare and show our young cats, under different judges from different states and countries, to confirm that our breeding and selection criteria is as acurate as possible.

Many breeders do NOT do this and therefore rely ONLY on their own interpretation of the Ragdoll standard. Some (unfortunately) have strayed considerably from the original ragdoll heritage and are selling kittens which DO NOT complement this beautiful breed.

If you are considering purchasing a ragdoll kitten, PLEASE ensure you are getting the REAL THING. Our showing results prove that our cats are among the best, and we invite you to follow out progress by regularly checking this page.

HOW DOES A CAT SHOW OPERATE?

Basically, each cat show has One, Two, Three or even more "rings". Most have Two or Three. Each "ring" is judged by a different cat judge. SO if you have Two "rings" - you know two DIFFERENT judges will judge YOUR cat. These judges could be from the club hosting the show, other club judges, interstate judges or even overseas judges. They are specified on the show entry form so you know who will judge your cat.

Hence "Two rings" means TWO DIFFERENT JUDGES. Each judge has their own interpretation of the cat standard and judges ALL cats accordingly. Hence One judge could give you BEST IN SHOW and the other judge might not award you anything. OUR AIM IS CONSISTANCY. If we are consistantly near the top under MOST judges, then we know our cats ARE GOOD!

The judging process is really quite simple - although explaining it is quite difficult - but I will try.

Each cat show has "rings" as mentioned above. NOW - each "ring" comprises FOUR "groups" - Group 1, 2, 3 and 4. Every PUREBRED (see note) cat or kitten in the show is placed into one of these groups according to its BREED. Ragdolls are in GROUP 1 along with Birmans, Turkish Vans, Persians, Exotics, Main Coons and Norwegian Forrest Cats.
NOTE: All non-purebred cats, including pets, are usually shown in Group 4.

Ragdolls are first judged against each other, according to age, sex, type and title - hence you have individual winners. These winners are then further judged against each other until you eventually have the BEST RAGDOLL KITTEN, BEST RAGDOLL ADULT and BEST RAGDOLL NEUTER. These are again judged against each other to become BEST RAGDOLL EXHIBIT. Runners up recieve the title of "RESERVE" in each class.

Our aim is to consistantly win these HIGHER RAGDOLL awards in each ring. This indicates that our breeding program is in fact staying on track with recognised breed standards. Also, by winning these awards our cats also become eligible to compete against OTHER breeds for GROUP and SHOW honours. Points are awarded to the TOP FIVE placings in each GROUP (cat and kitten) which eventually determines the Associations Cat and Kitten of the year.

2010 Show Results

Thought I would share with all of my website viewers, the wonderful show results that my ragdolls acheived when we exhibited recently at the

World Cat Congress and National Show Results held Melbourne May 2010 ( this show is held every 7 years)

Bedazzled won Best Ragdoll Kitten and then Reserve Group 1 Kitten ( 110 kittens) under the Swedish Judge, Annette Sjodin (FIFE)

She also placed 5th, 6th and 13th place in the other rings, winning Best Ragdoll Kitten first ( of course)

Ragalon Beaujolais ( her dad), you can see his photo under "The Boys" page, also attended and he won Best Ragdoll Adult in 4 rings and place 7th in 2 rings under the Swedish and Bulgarian judges

Very nice compliments from the overseas judges from Europe confirming that my raggies have excellent confirmation.

We are extremely pleased with the way our breeding program is progressing - and the show results are confirming that we are on the right track. CAV Cat Of The Year awards will be presented at the December show - and printed HERE once known.

"Peachey" is a gorgeous Seal Tortie Bicolour female. Although only 7 months old, she is already catching the judges eyes with her elegance.
